Your First Visit

Your 1st visit:

At your first appointment at the Halton Dental Specialty Group, you can expect:

  • A review of your medical and dental health history.
  • A thorough evaluation of your condition.
  • An explanation of your diagnosis and the treatment options for your condition.
  • An oral cancer screen of your lips, neck, cheek tissues, gums, and tongue.

Please bring the following items to your first appointment:
  • Your referral slip and any recent x-rays (less than one year old) if necessary
  • A list of medications (including dosages) you are currently taking
  • Your health card
  • If you have dental insurance, bring the necessary information (insurance company name, policy, and identification number)
  • X-rays may be required for your first appointment to help properly diagnosis your condition. Current x-rays are essential for the detection of decay, periodontal bone loss, tumors, cysts, and even tartar. If your dentist has x-rays on file, you may request that they be forwarded to our office, or bring them with you to your first appointment. If additional x-rays are required, they will be taken in our office and copies will be forwarded to your dentist, along with a progress report for their records.

All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
